Who is Eligible for Medicare Home Health?

To receive services for Medicare Covered Home Health the following criteria must be met:

  • A physician must order the service.
  • The patient must have a medical condition requiring skilled nursing or therapy.
  • The patient must be homebound.

What Does Homebound Mean?

The patient must experience the normal inability to leave home such that the patient’s physical condition and/or physical limitations are such that it would be a considerable taxing effort and requires assistance. A patient may be considered homebound if absences are infrequent, of short duration and for medical treatment.
